She co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in the indie film Kissing Jessica Stein (2001), earning an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best First Screenplay. In addition to her acting work, she made her directorial debut with Friends with Kids (2012). Westfeldt has also had recurring roles on TV shows such as Grey's Anatomy and Younger.
