Jane Elliott
Biography
Jane Elliott, born November 30, 1933, is an American diversity educator who became known for her groundbreaking "Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes" exercise, a classroom exercise to teach students about the effects of discrimination and racial stereotyping. Conducted with her third-grade class on April 5, 1968, the exercise gained national attention after local newspaper publication. This led to a 1970 documentary, "The Eye of the Storm," and subsequent speaking engagements, prompting Elliott to give up teaching to become a full-time anti-discrimination speaker.
