Barbara Loden

Biography

Barbara Loden was an American actress and director born on July 8, 1932, in North Carolina. She began her career as a commercial model and chorus-line dancer in New York City before earning a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress for her performance in the 1964 Broadway premiere of After the Fall. In 1970, Loden wrote, directed, and starred in Wanda, an independent film that won the International Critics Award at the Venice Film Festival. She was also known for her work with Elia Kazan and as a lifetime member of the Actors Studio.
