Shimon Peres

Biography

Shimon Peres was a renowned Israeli politician and statesman who served as prime minister from 1984 to 1986 and 1995 to 1996, and as president of Israel from 2007 to 2014. He was a key figure in the historic negotiations on the Protocol of Sèvres and engineered the 1994 Israel-Jordan peace treaty, for which he won the Nobel Peace Prize alongside Yasser Arafat. Peres represented five political parties in his 70-year career and is the longest-serving member of the Knesset in history. He was also a prominent advocate for lasting peace and advancement in the Middle East.
