Biography

Franco Franchi was a charismatic Italian comedian born Francesco Benenato in Palermo, Sicily on September 18, 1928. He rose to fame in the 1960s as part of the comedic duo Franco and Ciccio, appearing alongside Buster Keaton in War Italian Style (1966) in one of his final roles. Franchi also starred in notable dramatic material, including Luigi Comencini's The Adventures of Pinocchio (1972), where he played the memorable role of the Fox opposite Ciccio Ingrassia as the Cat.
