Cyril Raymond

Biography

Cyril William North Raymond MBE was a British character actor who began his professional career at 15 in 1914 at the Garrick Theatre, London. He went on to appear in notable roles, including Fred Jesson in Brief Encounter (1945), and later played Col. Matthews in Beware of Children (1960). Raymond retired from acting in the 1960s due to ill health, bringing an end to a long stage and screen career spanning over five decades.
