Biography

Rex Ingram was a talented American actor who made his mark in Hollywood's early years. He gained prominence after being discovered on the street corner by the casting director for Tarzan of the Apes (1918), and his powerful voice became an asset with the arrival of sound, landing memorable roles in The Green Pastures, The Thief of Bagdad, and Sahara. Ingram also had a successful stage career, appearing in over a dozen Broadway productions, including Haiti and St. Louis Woman.
