Cabin in the Sky

In "Cabin in the Sky," Little Joe Jackson (Eddie "Rochester" Anderson) is a well-meaning yet weak man who dies after a drunken fight and is resurrected by angelic powers to spend six months redeeming his soul. Guided by the Lord's Angel, Little Joe tries to become a hardworking, generous, and loving husband to his wife Petunia (Ethel Waters), while Lucifer Jr., the son of Satan himself, tries to drag him back to Hell. With the help of his wife and a tornado that destroys a nightclub where he's with his mistress Georgia Brown, Little Joe is allowed to go to Heaven with Petunia after demonstrating his devotion and character.
