Biography

Rubén González Fontanills was a Cuban pianist born on May 26, 1919, in Santa Clara, Cuba. He formed the style of modern Cuban piano playing alongside Lilí Martínez and Peruchín in the 1940s. González played with top acts including Paulina Álvarez, Arsenio Rodríguez, and Enrique Jorrín before re-emerging in the 1990s to play with Afro-Cuban All Stars and Buena Vista Social Club.
