Yōko Minamida was a Japanese actress born on March 1, 1933, in Tokyo. She rose to stardom in the 1950s and 1960s, starring in films by renowned directors such as Kenji Mizoguchi and Shohei Imamura. A prominent figure in Japan's New Wave cinema, Minamida's career spanned decades, including a successful transition to television. She passed away on October 21, 2009, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.
