Albert Garbe was a German actor born on May 25, 1904, in Leipzig. He began his career as a Kapellmeister at the Städtischen Bühnen Leipzig in 1926 and remained in the city for 25 years before joining the Ensemble of Theater am Schiffbauerdamm in 1951. Garbe gained prominence in films from the 1950s, playing strong, proletarian characters, including Maurerpolier John in "Die Ratten".
