Thomas Müntzer

In 1523, young Thomas Müntzer arrives in Allstedt to assume the rectorate, embracing Luther's teachings and sparking a radical response among the rural population. As he becomes the people's spokesman, Müntzer is forced to flee to Southern Germany, where he convenes with revolting farmers. Characterized by Wolfgang Stumpf as Thomas Müntzer, the film follows his journey from Allstedt to the Thuringian peasant uprising in Mühlhausen and the devastating loss at Frankenhausen. Ultimately, Müntzer's insurgency leads to his arrest, sentencing, and execution by decapitation.
