He began his career at the age of 22 as a research student with the theater company Yonseiza, making his screen debut in 1959's "Fifth Fukuryu Maru." With notable roles in Roman Poporno and television dramas like "Lupin III" and "Gekkaichu", Esumi gained recognition for his versatility. He passed away on August 22, 2004, at the age of 68 due to stomach cancer.
