Dinah Shore was an American singer, actress, and television personality born Frances Rose Shore on February 29, 1916, in Winchester, Tennessee. After failing auditions with notable bands, she struck out on her own to achieve huge solo success, releasing a string of 80 charted popular hits from 1940 to 1957. She went on to star in her own music and variety shows, and hosted two talk shows in the 1970s, solidifying her place as one of America's top television stars.
