Yuli Raizman

Biography

Yuli Raizman was a renowned Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter, and pedagogue, celebrated for his distinctive style and collaboration with notable writers like Yevgeny Gabrilovich. His breakthrough film, The Earth Is Thirsty (1930), was the Soviet Union's first sound film, while his 1937 film, The Last Night, won the Grand Prix at the Paris International Exhibition. Raizman was honored with the People's Artist of the USSR and Hero of Socialist Labour titles.
