Shakhmatnaya goryachka

In this 1925 Soviet silent comedy, Vladimir Fogel as the hero and Anna Zemtova as his fiancée Vera become enthralled with chess, leading to a series of misadventures as Vera struggles with her husband's increasing obsession. When Vera encounters the world champion, José Raúl Capablanca, she finds unexpected companionship, and the hero is inspired to reconcile with her. Ultimately, the film concludes with the hero and Vera reunited over their shared love of chess.
