Biography

Ivan Koval-Samborskiy was a Ukrainian stage and film actor who established himself in the Soviet film industry in the 1920s. Notable for his roles in early Soviet films, including "Mat" and "Shakhmatnaya goryachka", Koval-Samborskiy's career was marked by a brief foray into German cinema in the late 1920s. His subsequent return to Russia was cut short by an arrest in 1938, limiting his screen appearances until 1957.
