Biography

Sumiko Fuji is a Japanese actress born on December 1, 1945, as Junko Fuji, daughter of a producer at Tōei studios. She gained fame for her roles in yakuza films alongside stars Ken Takakura and Kōji Tsuruta, including the "Hibotan Bakuto" series. After marrying and initially retiring in 1972, she returned to acting under her real name Sumiko Fuji, winning Blue Ribbon Awards for best supporting actress in 1999 and 2006.
