She is notable for her roles in films like "This Was a Woman" (1948) and her personal life, including her marriage to inventor Victor Farris and her inheritance of $100 million after his death in 1985. A devoted philanthropist, she supported numerous charities, including the Salvation Army and the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. She passed away on March 11, 2011, at the age of 87.
