Joan Rivers was a pioneering American comedian and television host known for her sharp wit and acerbic humor, particularly towards celebrities and politicians. She rose to prominence in the 1960s as a guest on The Tonight Show and later became the first woman to host a late-night network talk show with her own program, The Late Show with Joan Rivers, in 1986.
