James Karen
Biography
James Karen was a character actor born Jacob Karnofsky on November 28, 1923, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to Russian-born Jewish immigrants. He was known for iconic roles in Poltergeist and The China Syndrome, as well as his memorable appearances in television shows such as Eight Is Enough. Karen was also the signature pitchman for Pathmark supermarkets from the late 1970s to the early 1990s, earning him the nickname "Mr. Pathmark."
