Biography

Colin Welland was born in Liverpool on July 4, 1934, and began his career as a teacher before transitioning to acting. He won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Kes (1969) and the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Chariots of Fire (1981). Welland was known for his roles in various films and TV series, including Z-Cars and Sweeney!, before passing away on November 2, 2015.
