Biography
Peggy Mondo was an American actress born Marguerite Gloria Mondo on August 12, 1927, in New Haven, Connecticut. She began her career as an opera singer before making her Broadway debut in The Music Man in 1957 and appearing in the film adaptation of the musical in 1962. Her notable roles included that of the lady wrestler in "Who's Minding the Store?" (1963) and cousin Tessie in the 1980 film Fatso, cementing her status as an actress who successfully played characters emphasizing her obesity.
