Anthony Caruso was a character actor known for his villainous roles in film noir and classic Westerns. Born in Frankfort, Indiana to Italian-American parents, he began performing with stock theater companies before making his film debut in 1940's Johnny Apollo. He gained notoriety for his portrayals of gangsters and villains, including Captain Juan Ortega in the first season of Walt Disney's Zorro, as well as roles in films like Escape from Zahrain and The Asphalt Jungle.
