"Drum Beat" is a 1954 American CinemaScope Western film written and directed by Delmer Daves. President Grant (Hayden Rorke) orders veteran Indian fighter Johnny MacKay (Alan Ladd) to negotiate with the Modocs of northern California and southern Oregon. Along the way, MacKay must escort Nancy Meek (Audrey Dalton) to her aunt and uncle's ranch, while also facing off against Captain Jack (Charles Bronson), a Modoc renegade who has been committing atrocities.
