Akira Takarada

Biography

Akira Takarada was born on April 29, 1934, in Korea under Japanese rule and later lived in Manchuria, China. He joined Toho's "New Face" program in 1953 and made his film debut with a small role in And Then the Liberty Bell Rang. Takarada rose to popularity for his iconic roles in the original Godzilla (1954), followed by subsequent films in the series, cementing his status as a beloved actor in Japanese cinema.
