Manis, a trained orangutan, stole scenes as Clyde, the charismatic sidekick, in Clint Eastwood's 1978 box office hit Every Which Way But Loose. Its breakout performance cemented its place in cinematic history. The talented primate's talent and charm were soon in high demand, but its growth made it impossible to reprise its role in the sequel, Any Which Way You Can.
