Djamila Bouhared
Biography
Djamila Bouhired was a militant of the National Liberation Front (FLN) during the Algerian War, collaborating with Yacef Saâdi. Arrested in 1957, she was sentenced to death for her participation in attacks, but was pardoned by General de Gaulle in 1959 and released from prison. After independence, she participated in protests against the Algerian political system, most notably in 2019. She married Jacques Vergès in 1965.
