Yoshihiro Tatsumi was a Japanese manga artist born on June 10, 1935, who began publishing work in his teens. He is credited with coining the term "gekiga" in 1957, helping to define a style of alternative manga that explored life's darker elements. Tatsumi's work was influenced by pioneers like Osamu Tezuka and Noboru Ōshiro, and he formed a lasting connection with Tezuka.
