Biography

Nils-Aslak Valkeapää was a Finnish Sámi writer, musician, and artist, renowned for his contributions to Sámi culture. As the official provincial artist of Lapland from 1978 to 1983, he showcased his talent through joiks and poems. He received the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 1991 for his work "Beaivi, áhčażan" (The Sun, My Father), cementing his status as one of the most internationally recognized Sámi contributors.
