Volker Bruch is a German television and film actor born in 1980 to a German father and Austrian mother. He grew up in Munich with five siblings and began acting during his high school years, studying performing arts at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. Bruch gained international recognition for his leading roles as Wilhelm Winter in Generation War (2013) and Inspector Gereon Rath in Babylon Berlin (2017-present), winning the 2018 Grimme-Preis award.
