Daniel Gélin

Biography

Daniel Gélin was a French actor born on May 19, 1921, in Angers, Maine-et-Loire. He began his career as an extra and small role player before winning his first leading role in Rendez-vous de juillet (1949) and going on to appear in over 150 films, including works by Max Ophüls, Jacques Becker, and Alfred Hitchcock. Gélin's film career declined with the rise of the New Wave, but he found new success as a character actor in television productions from the 1970s until his death in 2002.
