Le Souffle au coeur

"Le Souffle au coeur" follows the life of 15-year-old Laurent Chevalier as he navigates the complexities of adolescence in 1950s France. After contracting a case of scarlet fever, Laurent is placed in a sanatorium, where he is cared for by his over-attentive and adulterous mother, Clara Chevalier (Lea Massari). As Laurent navigates his new surroundings, he experiences a series of events that challenge his innocence, including a night of heavy drinking with his mother on Bastille Day. The film is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story written, produced, and directed by Louis Malle.
