Emily Erin Deschanel is an American actress born on October 11, 1976, in Los Angeles, California, to a cinematographer and actress family. She is best known for her starring role as Dr. Temperance Brennan in the Fox crime procedural comedy-drama series Bones from 2005 to 2017. Her early life was marked by ADHD and dyslexia, which she overcame to pursue a degree from Boston University's College of Fine Arts in 1998.
