Denis Quilley was a determined English actor from a non-theatrical family who pursued his dreams at Birmingham Repertory Theatre in his teens. He began a West End career in 1950, succeeding Richard Burton in "The Lady's Not For Burning", and went on to establish himself as a leading actor in the 1960s with film and television appearances.
