Fortino Mario Alfonso Moreno Reyes, known as Cantinflas, was a Mexican comedian and actor who portrayed impoverished farmers or peasants in his films. His character became synonymous with Mexico's national identity and allowed him to establish a long and successful film career, including a Hollywood foray. Charlie Chaplin praised him as the best comedian alive, earning him the nickname "Charlie Chaplin of Mexico."
