Around the World in 80 Days (1956) is a film based on the classic 1873 novel by Jules Verne, following Phileas Fogg (David Niven) on his journey around the world. Fogg, with the help of his resourceful French valet Passepartout (Cantinflas), accepts a £20,000 wager to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days. Along the way, they encounter various adventures, humorous scrapes, and meet Princess Aouda (Shirley MacLaine), whom they rescue from a funeral pyre in India.
