Finlay Currie

Biography

Finlay Currie was a Scottish actor of stage, screen, and television, born in Edinburgh in 1878. He began his career on the stage before emigrating to the US with his wife Maude Courtney, where they performed a song-and-dance act. Currie's notable film roles include Abel Magwitch in Great Expectations (1946) and Balthazar in Ben-Hur (1959), for which he appeared in seven films nominated for Best Picture.
