Dick Elliott was a character actor born Richard Damon Elliott in Boston, Massachusetts on April 30, 1886. He played over 240 films from the 1930s to his death in 1961, often typecast as a blustery politician or authority figure. Elliott had memorable roles in It's a Wonderful Life and several TV series, including The Andy Griffith Show, where he played Mayberry's Mayor Pike. His acting career spanned nearly three decades before his passing on December 22, 1961.
