Biography

Merle Oberon was a British actress of Anglo-Indian origin who rose to fame during Hollywood's Golden Age. Born Estelle Merle O'Brien Thompson in British India, she began her career in the early 1930s with notable roles in The Private Life of Henry VIII and Wuthering Heights. A traffic collision in 1937 nearly ended her career, but she recovered and continued acting until 1973.
