Gervase Duan Spradlin was a multifaceted American actor, attorney, and businessman born on August 31, 1920, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He served in the US Army Air Forces during World War II before attending law school at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his degree in 1948. Before turning to acting, Spradlin formed an independent oil company and worked as a lawyer.
