Apesanahkwat is a Native American tribal leader, activist, and film and television actor, born January 19, 1949. He has served as tribal chairman of the Menominee Indian Reservation eight times, including a notable role as tribal leader in the 1994 TV series "Sioux City." As a veteran of the US Marine Corps and Vietnam War, Apesanahkwat has also advocated for indigenous rights, including leading a 1989 rally against racism towards indigenous groups.
