Sioux City

Dr. Jesse Rainfeather Goldman, a young doctor of Lakota Sioux heritage, receives an amulet from his biological mother, Dawn Rainfeather, who was killed in a mysterious fire. Jesse travels to Sioux City, his birthplace, to learn about his cultural roots and investigates his mother's death. He gets to know people from the Lakota tribe, learns about their customs, and encounters racism in the predominantly white community. With the help of Jolene, a local Native American woman, Jesse unravels the truth about his mother's death and discovers a web of lies and deceit.
