Sam J. Jones is an American actor and former football player born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Sacramento, California. He gained recognition for his starring role as Flash Gordon in the 1980 film of the same name and also starred in the short-lived TV series The Highwayman from 1987 to 1988. Prior to acting, Jones played American football in the US Marine Corps and had a brief stint modeling for men's magazines.
