Sonny Shroyer

Biography

Sonny Shroyer Jr., born August 28, 1935, in Valdosta, Georgia, grew up in a deep South tradition and was a standout football player in high school. He attended Florida State University on a scholarship but an injury cut short his athletic career. Shroyer landed the iconic role of Deputy Sheriff Enos Strate in The Dukes of Hazzard, starring in the series until it was written out to star in a spinoff.
