Katy Jurado
Biography
Katy Jurado was a Mexican stage and screen actress who established herself in Mexico before coming to Hollywood in the 1940s. She worked with notable directors like Fred Zinneman, Sam Peckinpah, and John Huston on films such as High Noon and Under the Volcano. Jurado became the first Latina/Hispanic actress nominated for an Academy Award for her work in Broken Lance in 1954, a distinction she also holds as the first to win a Golden Globe.
