John Benfield was a British character actor born Jonathan Edmund Fulford Turner on November 9, 1951, in Wanstead, Essex. After studying history at the University of Nottingham and training at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, he began his acting career with small parts in BBC drama adaptations from 1981. Notable roles include Captain Axel in "Cold Skin" (2017), Father in "Cassandra's Dream" (2007), and Chief PO Barker in "In the Name of the Father" (1993).
