In 1984, schoolteacher Andrei Romanovich Evilenko is dismissed from his position after attempting to rape a pupil, marking the beginning of a twisted journey fueled by his psychopathic urges and hatred for the Soviet Union's collapse. As Evilenko continues to commit heinous crimes, Vadim Lesiev, a magistrate with a family to protect, becomes determined to catch the serial killer, aided by psychiatrist Aron Richter in his profiling efforts. The cat-and-mouse game between Evilenko and the authorities ultimately leads to Lesiev's capture of Evilenko, who has claimed the lives of 55 people, mostly children and young women.
