Jerzy Skolimowski is a Polish film director, screenwriter, dramatist, actor, and painter born on May 5, 1938. He began his career as a screenwriter for Andrzej Wajda's Innocent Sorcerers (1960) and went on to direct notable films such as The Departure (1967), Deep End (1970), and Essential Killing (2010). Skolimowski received the Golden Lion Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 2016 Venice Film Festival, recognizing his contributions to cinema. His 2022 film EO won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
