George Herbert Walker Bush was a Republican politician who served as the 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993 and the 43rd Vice President under Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1989. Before his presidency, Bush held various positions including ambassador to the United Nations, chairman of the Republican National Committee, and director of central intelligence. A member of the wealthy and established Bush family, he was also the father of George W. Bush, the 43rd president.
